Heckmondwike's curriculum is designed to create life-long learners who care about their world. It is a springboard to give our children the skills, knowledge and personal qualities to enable them to become whatever they want to be. The curriculum has been designed as a response to what we already know about our pupils. Our curriculum aims to build on what has previously been taught and learned to ensure that academic achievement, physical and mental wellbeing, growth of character and personal development are linked, equipping our pupils with firm foundations of the knowledge, skill and strength of character needed to be successful in life. Our ‘PRIDE’ Values’ are set out to drive the curriculum and provide all stakeholders with explicit understanding of the school’s vision in securing quality of education for all pupils.
If you wish to find out any more information about our curriculum, you can visit the separate subject pages on our website. Alternatively, please feel free to discuss the curriculum with the staff at Heckmondwike Primary School, where planning and information will be available on your request.
Please see below our draft curriculum subject pages. These are not all finished yet, but we were keen to share with you what we have so far. Our subject leaders are regulalry reviewing our curriculum in response to our pupils' needs and understanding, all the while ensuring that our intergity to the National Curriculum is maintained.
